Lucky pups in Fairbanks, Alaska have a great place to beat boredom at the Fairbanks Dog Park. It’s located inside South Davis Park, which is a larger park with lots of sports areas for both kids and adults. The dog park is open all year round, 24 hours a day, making it convenient to bring your pup at any time. During the winter, the park is open from 2 pm to 10 pm and lights are provided in the parking area. The dog run has two fully fenced areas where dogs can play and exercise without a leash. There’s even a pond for splashing and training, as well as agility equipment like tires and a tunnel. While it’s not clear if the park offers water or clean-up bags, it’s a good idea to bring your own bottled water, a bowl, and bags. Remember to clean up after your dog and use the trash cans provided. If your pup has had enough playtime with other dogs, you can explore the rest of South Davis Park. There are meandering trails through wooded areas, soccer and softball fields, basketball courts, a picnic shelter, and community gardens. Restrooms are not currently available, but there are port-a-potties during the summer. Before visiting the dog park, make sure your dog is ready for the experience. They should be spayed or neutered, up to date on vaccines, at least 4 months old, and not in heat. It’s also recommended that children under 12 do not enter the dog park enclosures for safety reasons. So, if your dog is in need of some playtime, head to the Fairbanks Dog Park!
